Emergency ProtectionThe state of Florida has embarked on one of the biggest cleanup operations in US history after Hurricane Jeanne, the fourth hurricane to hit the state in six weeks, killed at least six people and left more than one million without power. Hurricane Charley made landfall on August 13, 2004; Hurricane Frances made landfall on September 5; Hurricane Ivan made landfall on September 15; and Hurricane Jeanne made landfall on September 25. Through the Emergency Watershed Protection Program, NRCS reviewed potential projects upon request from sponsors. NRCS prepares a damage survey report for eligible projects to document the damage.
