Every Day is Earth Day

NRCS employees work with children on Earth Day 2004

NRCS believes that everyday is Earth Day.  Jose Acevedo, NRCS Deputy Chief for Programs, spent April 22, 2004 in Florida to enforce that idea.  He attended the Earth Day celebration at Beasley Park in Ft. Walton Beach where he spent the day with approximately 200 elementary students studying the environment and transplanting grasses and other plants to help stabilize the beach sand dunes.  In other parts of Florida, NRCS employees celebrated Earth Day in variety of ways.  West Palm Beach District Conservationist Gregorio Cruz covered several events including the Palm Beach County Solid Waste Authority - Earth Day and Broward County Water Matters Day with over 1,000 attendees at both events.
