SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE ANNOUNCES CONSERVATION SECURITY PROGRAM SIGN-UP     
Sign-up will run April 18 - May 16, 2008.

WASHINGTON, March 19, 2008—Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer announced a sign-up for the Conservation Security Program (CSP) that will be available starting on April 18 to approximately 64,000 potentially eligible farms and ranches in 51 watersheds covering more than 23.7 million acres.  CSP in Florida is open to qualified producers in the Lower Choctawhatchee watershed in northern Florida.

A public information meeting will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 7:00PM at the Washington County Agricultural Center, 1424 Jackson Ave., US HWY 90, Chipley, FL 32428.

Florida NRCS Requests Applications for Conservation Innovation Grants

NRCS requests applications for Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies. Applications are accepted for proposals that will be implemented in the State of Florida. For FY 2008, up to $150,000 is available for the State CIG competition.  Proposals must be received in the NRCS Florida State Office by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on April 25, 2008.
